Everything that matters, in one look
You shouldn't have to read three paragraphs to know if a shoe will work. Here's the whole shoe.
Hand-stitched genuine leather upper
Soft from the first wear. No long break-in period.
Slip-on with elastic side panels
One step to put on. Nothing to tie. Nothing to bend down for.
Wide toe box
Toes stay flat and straight instead of pressing together.
Padded ankle collar
Protects the ankle bone. No rubbing at the back of the heel.
Cushioned footbed
Support under the arch and heel for long days on your feet.
Removable insole
Use the shoe with your own orthotic if you already have one.
Rugged rubber outsole
Deep tread for grass, gravel, and wet pavement.
Three widths
Medium (D), Wide (2E–3E), Extra Wide (4E).
Built for the way you walk now
Most shoes are designed for a 25-year-old foot. Yours has been working for sixty years. Here's what we changed.
“I can't bend down to tie laces anymore.”
The CanyonStride has no laces. The elastic side panels open when your foot goes in, then hold it. Two hands on the counter, one step, and you're in. Nothing to bend down for, nothing to knot, nothing to come loose.
“My feet swell by the end of the day.”
The upper is genuine leather, which gives and moves with your foot instead of fighting it. The elastic side panels expand as your feet widen through the day. That's why we offer a Wide (2E–3E) and Extra Wide (4E) — so you're not squeezing your foot into a shoe built for somebody else.
“My toes feel pinched.”
Look at the front of the shoe. The toe box is built wider than a standard dress shoe, with a rounded shape rather than a pointed taper. Your toes sit flat and side by side, the way they're supposed to.
“I'm on my feet all day, and by evening my feet are done.”
Under your foot is a cushioned footbed with support through the arch and heel, sitting on a shock-absorbing rubber midsole. It takes the hard edge off pavement and concrete.
“Pavement in the rain worries me.”
The rubber outsole has deep tread and a raised heel edge, so it grips on wet pavement, gravel, grass, and uneven ground.
Made by hand, in six steps
A hand-stitched shoe takes far longer to make than a machine-glued one. Here's what actually happens between the hide and your doorstep.
1Choosing the hide. Leather is inspected by hand. Cuts and weak spots are rejected.
2Cutting to the pattern. Every panel is cut and matched so the grain lines up.
3Skiving & edging. Edges are thinned by hand so the seams sit flat on your foot.
4Hand-stitching the moc toe. Two rows of waxed thread, worked by hand, not glued.
5Lasting. The upper is pulled over a wooden last so the leather learns the shape of the foot.
6Sole, finish & inspection. Trimmed, burnished, and checked by hand. If a seam is off, the pair doesn't ship.
Handwork isn't a marketing word here. It's why the leather starts soft, why the toe seam holds, and why the shape stays after a season of wear.
Look closer
Hand-stitched moc toe
Two rows of waxed thread, worked by hand around the curve of the toe. It keeps its shape instead of peeling away.
Genuine leather upper
Grained, conditioned leather with a natural finish. It softens as you wear it and takes on its own patina.
Elastic side gores
On both sides. They open for your foot and close to hold it, so the shoe goes on without laces and stays on without slipping.
Padded ankle collar
Foam-cushioned around the opening, with a rear pull tab so you can get the shoe on without pushing your finger into the heel.
Wide, rounded toe box
Extra room across the ball of the foot compared with a standard dress or casual shoe.
Cushioned, removable footbed
Arch and heel support built in. Take it out and use your own orthotic if that's what you wear.
Rugged rubber outsole
Deep, multi-directional tread with a raised edge for grip on wet or loose ground.
Reinforced heel counter
A firm panel at the back holds your heel centred so your foot doesn't roll inward.
Get the right size the first time
Three widths. One of them is your foot.
| Width |
Marking |
Choose this if… |
| Medium |
D |
You usually buy “regular” shoes and they fit fine. Most men start here. |
| Wide |
2E–3E |
Your feet swell during the day, you wear thicker socks, or the sides of shoes press on your foot. |
| Extra Wide |
4E |
You have bunions or hammertoes, or shoes always feel tight across the top of your foot. |
How to check your width in 60 seconds
- Stand on a piece of paper in your socks and trace around your foot.
- Measure the widest part across the ball of your foot, in inches.
- Compare it with the chart above. If you land between two widths, go wider. Leather stretches out slightly; it does not stretch in.
Sizing notes
- The CanyonStride fits true to your normal US sneaker size.
- Between sizes, or wearing thick winter socks? Size up half a size.
- Wide feet are not long feet. If shoes are tight across the top but too long in the toe, keep the length and move up a width.
- US 7 through US 15, including half sizes.

Keep them looking good for years
- Leather: wipe with a damp cloth, let them air dry away from direct heat, then apply a neutral leather conditioner every 2–3 months.
- Never machine wash, soak, or tumble dry leather.
- Wet shoes: stuff with newspaper and let them dry at room temperature. Heat cracks leather.
- Soles: brush out grit from the tread so it keeps its grip.
- Rotate pairs: give leather a full day to dry between wears. It lasts noticeably longer.
Questions men actually ask us
Are these true to size?
Yes. Order the same size as your everyday sneakers. Wear thick socks or sit between sizes? Size up half a size.
I have wide feet. Which width should I order?
Start with Wide (2E–3E) if regular shoes feel tight on the sides, and Extra Wide (4E) if you have bunions, hammertoes, or the top of the shoe always presses down. If you're between widths, go wider.
Will they fit my orthotics?
The footbed is removable, so you can take it out and use your own insert. Going up a width gives you more room over the top of the foot.
Do they need breaking in?
They're comfortable out of the box. Genuine leather softens over the first week or two of wear and settles around your foot.
How do I put them on without bending down?
Use the pull tab at the back and the elastic side panels. Put your hand on something solid, step in, and your heel drops into place.
How heavy are they?
These are a rugged leather shoe with a rubber outsole, so they're not featherweight — the weight is in the sole, which is what gives the grip. Want the lightest possible option? Email us before ordering and we'll point you to the right pair.
Is the tread aggressive?
The outsole has deep, raised tread made for grass, gravel, and wet pavement. On very smooth indoor floors, a deep tread can feel like more grip than you need. If you mostly walk on flat indoor surfaces and want something flatter underfoot, email service@usacobbler.com and we'll recommend a smoother-soled style.
Are they waterproof?
The leather is treated and resists light rain and splashes. They are water-resistant, not waterproof — standing water can reach the foot over time. Treat them with a leather protector for extra protection.
What if they don't fit?
Return them free within 30 days. See the returns section above.
Where are they made, and who do I contact?
They're made by hand in small batches for USA Cobbler®. For any question — sizing, an order, or a return — email service@usacobbler.com and a person will answer.
Straight talk before you buy

- Deal with swelling, or just need more room across the foot
- Want a classic leather look, not an athletic sneaker
- Are on your feet on grass, gravel, or pavement

Look elsewhere if you…
- Need a lightweight running or gym shoe
- Want a flexible, thin “barefoot” sole
- Mainly walk on smooth indoor floors and want a flat, quiet sole
- Need a certified medical or prescription orthotic shoe — this is a comfort shoe, not a medical device
If you're on the fence, order your size and try them indoors. You have 30 days, and returns are free.
